Katrina Kaif who?

Ali Zafar's made an impact with his very first Bollywood film, but when it comes to knowing the industry's biggies, he's still got a long way to go. The 'Tere Bin Laden' star, who's been signed on for Yashraj Films' next with Katrina Kaif, didn't know who Kat was when they met!

It seems that both Ali and Kat were at a party, and the 'Rajneeti' star thought it would be nice to go and speak to her future co-star. So she went up to him, and was met with no recognition whatsoever. Ali had no idea who Kat was. She might have been surprised, but we hear that Kat recovered quickly and introduced herself to Ali. And she even brushed off the incident saying that Ali was new, and that even she didn't know everyone in B'wood after being around for four years.

That was cool of Kat, and we think Ali's not going to ever forget that particular introduction, and start brushing up on the who's who of Bollywood too!

Salman backtracks on Katrina split?

Salman Khan is mad at the media again. After he reportedly said in a TV interview that he had split with Katrina Kaif, and Katrina also confirmed that she was single, there's a new twist in the tale. It seems Salman is now saying that only portions of the original interview where he spoke about Kat were aired, and that he never said that he and Katrina had split up.

He's made it clear that the relationship he shares with Kat is nobody's business. The star even got angry when asked to clarify their current relationship status. But he also said that he wasn't bothered by the media frenzy following his and Kat's comments.

So does Sallu want to make amends with Katrina? We'll be on the lookout for answers! Watch this space for updates.

Salman-Katrina’s dance drama

We’re going ‘Walla Walla’ after watching Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar in their Qawali number for Farah Khan’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’. The song has Sallu and Akki in a pretend-fight over Kat (hmm…imagine that!).

The real question is – Were Salman and Katrina fighting during the shooting? Nothing of that sort it seems. Apparently the couple (or former couple) were fairly cordial to one another and had fun while shooting the song (thanks to buffers Akshay and Farah maybe).

While Salman and Akki were dressed in colourful vests, scarves and caps; Kat made for a rather sober picture, considering she plays an item girl in the movie.

Katrina most profitable actress of 2010

Ajay Devgn and Katrina Kaif will be crowned the most profitable actors of 2010 at the 'ETC Bollywood Business Awards 2010 - Evaluating Movie Moghuls' today (December 28). First timer Abhinav Kashyap will get the most profitable director trophy.

On evaluating the industry players on the basis of return on investment for the first time, the actors have won the top spots after the economic quotient of their movies was taken into consideration as a cornerstone for mapping their success.

"Figures talk, you cannot manipulate it, you cannot play games with it," said Ajay, who has had six releases this year including 'Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?' 'Raajneeti', 'Golmaal 3', and 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai' and except 'Aakrosh' and 'Toonpur Ka Superhero', all his movies did good business.

The research done by ETC indicated that Indian audiences paid a cumulative sum of Rs.282 crore to watch Ajay's films throughout the year vis-a-vis Rs.142 crore to watch Katrina's 'Raajneeti' and 'Tees Maar Khan'.

Breaking all records is Salman Khan starrer 'Dabangg' that has been named as the top grosser of the year. Debut director Abhinav Kashyap bagged the most profitable director trophy for the corrupt cop saga with audiences paying a cumulative sum of over Rs.140 crore to watch his film.

"It is a fair assessment of the recipient's work and his popularity and mass appeal," said Arbaaz Khan, winner of the most successful producer for 'Dabangg'.

This will be the first time in India where an initiative has sought to recognize even the marketers, distributors, production houses and exhibitors on the basis of business the industry has generated in 2010.

"All those who represent the industry, actors, musicians and directors have only been judged on creative parameters. No one had thought of evaluating them on how much business they had generated," Anurag Bedi, business head, ETC, said.

"Such an evaluation will bring forward the workings of Bollywood as an industry," he added.

The ceremony also has first time categories such as marketing (best marketed film of the year - 'My Name Is Khan'), distribution (special award for film distribution) and promotion (most successful banner/corporate house/production house of the year), among others.

While the award for the most profitable multiplex chain of the year goes to PVR Cinemas, the most successful small-budget film of the year trophy will be handed over to 'Peepli Live'. Corporate house of the year is Shree Ashtvinayak Cinevison Ltd.

The ceremony will also recognise the most successful Hollywood film of the year with 'Inception' taking centrestage.

"ETC Bollywood Business Awards 2010 - Evaluating Movie Moghuls" will aired December 28 at 8.30pm on ETC channel.

Farah treats Kat to promised cinnabons

Gives Katrina Kaif the sweets she craves in return for staying slender till item song Sheila Ki Jawani was shot.

Farah Khan believes in keeping her artistes happy. She promised her Tees Maar Khan heroine, Katrina Kaif a special treat if she managed to maintain a slender waist for her raunchy number, Sheila Ki Jawani. Yesterday, Khan fulfilled Kat's craving to have Cinnabons.

Says the director, "Katrina has worked extremely hard on the song Sheila Ki Jawani over the last couple of weeks. I had told her I'd give her whatever treat she wanted after the song was done. She wanted Cinnabons so yesterday I got three dozen in assorted flavours on the sets after we packed up. The day before wrap-up, she finished shooting for the song, went for a press endorsement in the evening and then went to the gym at midnight and worked out."

Farah is impressed with Kat's professionalism and dedication. "She had to wear a low waisted, half-saree for the song so for the last two weeks she cut down on carbohydrates, didn't have any sweets, went to the gym regularly and followed a strict diet. She did whatever I told her to do. Now that the song is over, the poor girl can eat to her heart's content. Her performance in this song is going to shock people."

Incidentally, Shah Rukh had gone on a diet and almost starved for Om Shanti Om and Dard-e-Disco. A defensive Farah states, "I don't ask my stars to starve. I just tell them that this is what you have to look like and these are your costume references. Like Madhuri will be remembered for Ek Do Teen, Kat will be remembered for Sheila Ki Jawani. She's looking her best! It is like a tribute to Jumma Chumma from Hum. Akshay is also in the song."

Katrina says, "After pack up, we had a feast (she ate three Cinnabons). I love Cinnabons so I asked Farah if I could have some after the song got over. I have been training with Yasmin Karachiwala for the last 13 days to tone down for the song. We trained on Tuesday night at 12 am. It's not so much about losing weight as toning the abs and body. I have been on a controlled diet which consists mainly of fruit, fish and porridge."

I am single, says Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif, who had always refrained from speaking about her relationship with actor Salman Khan, has finally confirmed that she is single.

"I am single. But beyond that I don't think I need to give too much of details," Katrina said yesterday (August 24) at the Trident hotel in Mumbai, where she was named as the international brand ambassador of Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The actress who garnered rave reviews for her role in director Prakash Jha's political drama 'Raajneeti' said that sometime it becomes very difficult to take a personal decision and more so if it has to be taken publicly.

"Sometimes it's hard enough to take decisions, professional sometimes but mostly personal and wherever the decision that you have to take, it's very difficult to take them and if you have to make them in front of everybody, whether it's media, or the public or the world, I think that's a little bit more than what I can handle. That's why for six years, I have never commented who I am with, if I had a break up, if there is an argument," Katrina said.

The actress said she thinks commitment changes with situations.

"If you commit to something, you must stand by. But if you commit to something and the situation changes, then perhaps the commitment also changes," she said.

Is it Kareena?

Who has been cast opposite Salman Khan in Atul Agnihotri's remake of the South flick Bodyguard? A source close to Kareena Kapoor insists that it is the actress!

There was buzz that Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone too had been approached for the project being directed by Siddique, who called the shots in the original flick.

But the casting depended on the availability of Sallu's dates. So whichever actress could give the dates to match Khan could be part of the film.

Titled My Love Story, it is slated to release during Eid next year. It will be Sallu's third Eid release after Wanted in 2009 and Dabangg this year.

Pssst ¦ After Dabangg, Salman Khan is hot property and even those who had issues with him now want to star with him. Kareena had problems with the star during Main Aurr Mrs Khanna.

Saif's girl has let bygones be bygones to work again with the much-in-demand Sallu. Wonder what her RA.One co-star Shah Rukh Khan has to say to this?

Katrina turns 'Pakeezah' in Tees Maar Khan

After completing a raunchy number Sheela Ki Jawaani, Katrina Kaif is all set to go for a Meena Kumari style makeover for a special qawalli number in Tees Maar Khan.

The actress, who plays a wannabe item girl in the Farah Khan directed movie, will be accompanied by Salman Khan and co-star Akshay Kumar in the song. Salman is making a special appearance in the song. Katrina will be seen as grace personified a la Meena Kumari form 'Pakeezah', says the director. "Katrina would be seen in an altogether different avtar in this 'qawalli'. While Akshay and Salman can be expected to have a lot of fun with this track, it belongs to Katrina as she would surprise the audience," Farah said.

"Katrina's look has been modeled on 'Pakeezah' though I don't wish to spoil the fun by disclosing more than that as of now," said Farah, adding that the 'qawalli' will have a quintessential Mumbaiyya feel to it with a 'masala mix' feel to it.

It is Farah's third film after Main Hoon Naa and Om Shanti Om, both of which starred her best friend Shah Rukh Khan.

Farah says the film will be complete after the song. In fact quite some emphasis is being put on the way Katrina would make an entry in the song.
With the first half of the song is dominated by Salman and Akshay, the young woman would arrive in the middle of the 'qawalli' and would join the boys in all the fun right till the end.

"Do you remember Yeh Ishq Ishq Hai Ishq Ishq, the 'qawalli' from Barsaat Ki Raat which was created 50 years back? It still sounds so fresh. The 'qawalli' in Tees Maar Khan, though not exactly like that, is on the same lines," Farah said.

Asked whether Akshay was okay with the idea of introducing Salman Khan in the song, Farah said, "When I shared the idea with Akshay, he was game for it. He had a big smile on his face when I said that the song would feature the two of them along with Katrina."

Katrina has already impressed with her moves in songs like 'Zara Zara Touch Me' and 'Khwab Dekhe Jhoothe Moothe' (Race), 'Main Tera Dhadkan Teri' (Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani), 'Paisa Paisa' (De Dana Dan) and 'Teri Ore' (Singh Is Kinng).

Katrina is Etihad Airways' brand ambassador

Katrina Kaif has been named the brand ambassador of Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, an official said.

The announcement will be made in Mumbai in the presence of Etihad Airways' vice-president (Marketing) Andrew Ward, and country manager (India) Neerja Bhatia in the presence of Katrina Kaif, the official said.

According to the official, positioning itself as a frontrunner in the increasingly competitive luxury airline segment, Etihad Airways is constantly developing and communicating its unmatched and uncompromised service to patrons.

"With a vision to be a truly 21st century global airline, the association with Katrina Kaif will further symbolise Etihad Airways' brand attributes, showcasing young, premium and fresh approach to service in the air and on the ground," the official added.

Katrina, 27, currently ranks as the top Bollywood star and has soared to this position in less than seven years, which has resulted in a string of awards to her credit.

Starting with Kaizad Gustaad's 'Boom' in 2003, Katrina has also acted in Tamil and Malayalam movies.

Her prominent movies include 'Sarkar', 'Partner', 'Welcome', 'Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya', 'Namaste London', 'Race', 'Singhh Is King', 'New York', and 'Raajneeti.

Bollywood's top tax payers revealed

Shah Rukh Khan has got back his position as Bollywood's top tax payer. For 2010- 2011, he's paid more taxes than Akshay Kumar, who'd topped the list for 2010-2009. SRK has paid Rs. 5 crores for the second quarter this time round, compared to Akki's 4.5 crores.

They are followed by Aamir Khan, who paid Rs 4 crores. The fourth place is shared by Saif Ali Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, both paying Rs 2.5 crores.

Katrina leads the B'wood heroine brigade, with Rs 1.3 crore. She's followed closely by Kareena Kapoor, who's paid Rs 1 crore.

Someone who's really fallen on this chart is Hrithik Roshan, who's only paid Rs 50 lakhs for the year, compared to Rs 3 crores last year.

Salman confirms Katrina split

It's the end of another complicated chapter in Salman Khan's always eventful love life, if he's being serious that is. Salman said in a TV interview recently that he had broken up with Katrina. Sallu added that they were friends earlier and are now as well. He got philosophical saying that splits happen because people go different ways, grow in different ways, or because of different sensibilites. He said it was good if friendship could be maintained even after a split.

Meanwhile, it's plain to see that the star's now playing mentor to his new Bollywood muse - his 'Dabangg' co-star Sonakshi Sinha. Sonakshi's already signed another movie with Arbaaz Khan's production company opposite Salman. And now Salllu has recommended her to his producer pal Sajid Nadiadwala for the movie 'Kick'.

Of course, Salman is the hero, and apparently Sajid had thought of casting Deepika Padukone opposite him. But Salman is supposed to have suggested Sonakshi's name, and so she's been offered the role.

And Salman and Sonakshi have been bonding apart from their movie roles too. They're both interested in painting and Sonakshi has been saying that whenever she found Salman painting, she would start painting as well. She added that their painting styles were quite similar.

So what will all this acting-painting bonding lead to, now that Salman is single? Watch this space for updates.

Katrina injured while belly dancing

Dancing for the item number 'Sheela Ki Jawani' is really taking its toll on Katrina Kaif. Katrina was shooting the song for Farah Khan's 'Tees Maar Khan' when she developed a severe stomach cramp.

It seems the number requires some heavy-duty dancing, and while rehearsing for it mid-afternoon, Kat suddenly screamed out loud. Farah and the crew rushed to her, but she was in so much pain that apparently she couldn't even speak for a while.

Kat has been rehearsing the song for six days in a row now, and we guess it got a bit too much for her. Farah has given her time off to recover, and shooting begins again in a few days. Hope Kat gets her belly in order by then!

Katrina's got marriage on her mind

Katrina Kaif has no plans to get married anytime soon, but she has already decided the colour of her wedding outfit. The actress, who walked the ramp at the inaugural India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) to showcase the Nakshatra bridal collection, will go green on her D-day.

"At the moment I don't know when I'll marry. I had once said 2012, but for that too I have two years to go. Such things are not planned. You never know what's in store for you, but whenever it happens, I would love to wear something in green," Katrina told repoters.

"I don't know, why, but I have this thing in my mind," added the 26-year-old, who is the Nakshatra brand ambassador.

Wearing a peach ruffled lehenga with a jewel encrusted top by Neeta Lulla, the actress sported a chunky diamond set that was based on the traditional seven-stone floral cluster design of the brand.

Talking about her association with the brand, Katrina said: "It's an iconic brand because its not just a jewellery brand, it symbolises the Indian woman."

The actress also unvieled a new bangle collection - the divine circles - from Nakshatra at the IIJW.

For Katrina, jwellery given to her is very special.

"Jewellery is something that becomes all the more special when it is gifted. My favourite piece of jewellery is a pendant that was gifted to me. It has a religious symbol on it, something from the Quran. That piece is very special to me."

IIJW is India's first-ever jewellery week and will run till August 19 at the Grand Hyatt, Santa Cruz.

The extravaganza will showcase the collections of 30 designers, including Farah Khan Ali, Varun D. Jani, Bina Goenka and Rhea Nasta. Well-known jewellery brands like Mirari, Gitanjali, Amrapali, Tanishq and Ganjam are also participating.

Kat, Deepika book Ranbir!

Mumbai temperatures in July 2011 will dip to an all-time low.

Three of Bollywood's hottest girls — Katrina Kaif (the leader of the brigade), Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone — are likely to accompany Bollywood's young box office Prince, Ranbir Kapoor, on a world tour.

In the last couple of years, Ranbir's popularity in the overseas market has risen to several degrees. Trade analyst Amod Mehra confirms that, "Prakash Jha's Raajneeti did such good business abroad only because of Ranbir and Katrina. He is a huge draw with the NRIs."

Even unknown to most people, Rishi Kapoor has been getting offers for a world tour featuring his superstar son for the last couple of years. However, Rishi has steered clear of temptation and didn't want Ranbir to travel on a world concert till such time as the young actor has enough chartbusters to bring the concert venues down!
It is being suggested that the world tour is scheduled for July 2011 because it can then feature the chartbusters from several Ranbir films including Bachna Aye Haseeno, Wake Up Sid, Anjaana Anjaani and even Imtiaz Ali's Rock Star. It is said that the organisers want the Kapoor scion to be accompanied on this tour by his leading ladies Katrina, Priyanka and Deepika.

A source from overseas says, "Such is the craze for Ranbir and his teen deviyaan show that the non-resident Indians are already making enquiries about it."

Exclusive Watch: Bollywood beauties on the ramp for Salman Khan

Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu and Sushmita Sen walked the ramp for Salman Khan's Being Human show at HDIL India Couture Week in Mumbai.

Katrina heats up Salman's fashion show

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif might not be a couple anymore, but she's still there for him when it comes to supporting his charity. Kat joined B'wood's hottest women - Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu - on the ramp for Salman's Being Human show at HDIL Couture Week.

Also on the ramp were Karisma Kapur Priety Zinta and Sushmita Sen. All the stars wore Manish Malhotra's creations and diamond jewllery by Forevermark.

The theme for the show was 'Fashion Throughout the Ages', with each era of the Hindi film industry defined.
Before the actresses walked down the ramp, a short audio-visual was screened on the particular period and dances were performed to highlight the entertainment of that time.

For instance, the 1930s were defined by tap dance and the 1940s by qawallis.

The first to hit the runway was Priety Zinta, dressed in black, representing 1920s elegance and glamour.

She was followed by Katrina Kaif. Dressed in a long red gown, she depicted the 1930s, known for "Fearless" Nadia for her stunts in films like 'Hunterwali'.

Then, Rani Mukherji walked the ramp in a black velvet choli and white lehenga, bringing alive the elegance of the 1940s.

To recreate the flirtatious 1950s, Bipasha Basu walked the ramp in a short black outfit looking her sexiest best.

The swinging 1960s was dominated by Shammi Kapoor and the rock and roll culture and who better than his grand niece Karisma Kapoor to do justice to it! Draped in a red sari, the actress, who has taken a break from work, oozed glamour and poise.

Then came Sushmita Sen, who depicted the flamboyance and freedom of women in 1970s, dressed in multi-coloured kaftan top and golden mini skirt.

After this it was Priyanka Chopra's turn to wow. Dressed in a white baby-doll dress, she represented the silver screen's glam girls of the 1980s.

After that was Kareena Kapoor, in a smart and sexy black power suit, walking the ramp depicting the women of the 1990s.

Finally, there was Salman, who wore red trousers and a black trench coat with glares and walked the ramp with a smile.

Last year it was all guys for Salman as he had teamed up with stars like Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt for the show.

This year while he had Katrina on the show, the two never got too close to each other. Preity Zinta was the chosen buffer, and we've got to say - she did a good job!
