Salman makes Delhi go crazy

Fan frenzy was at its peak when Salman Khan came to a mall in New Delhi to promote his upcoming police drama ‘Dabangg’.
Salman looked great and the hundreds of fans who gathered at DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj, went berserk on seeing their favourite star.

The fans, who had been waiting for him for more than one-and-a-half-hours, burst into cheers the moment Salman walked in with his co-star Sonakshi Sinha and brother Arbaaz Khan, who has produced the film.

There was lots of clapping and cheering in the overcrowded mall when the star stepped on the dais waving and blowing kisses to his fans, but could barely speak due the noise.

"Maine ek mall mein itni bheed kabhi nahi dekhi (I have never seen so many people in a mall). Love you all," a surprised Salman told his fans.

People were seen pushing and jostling each other to get a closer look at the star. When the actor spotted a mother carrying a small child in the maddening crowd, a concerned Salman told the bouncers: "Please take care of the child and the mother."

Then he spotted an old lady patiently waiting for him in the crowd and called her to join him on the stage.

Salman even entertained audiences by performing the song ‘Tere mast mast do nain’ from ‘Dabangg’, which is releasing September 10.

He even distributed the aviators he has worn in the film and the first one to receive this was the little girl in her mother's lap.

Salman backtracks on Katrina split?

Salman Khan is mad at the media again. After he reportedly said in a TV interview that he had split with Katrina Kaif, and Katrina also confirmed that she was single, there's a new twist in the tale. It seems Salman is now saying that only portions of the original interview where he spoke about Kat were aired, and that he never said that he and Katrina had split up.

He's made it clear that the relationship he shares with Kat is nobody's business. The star even got angry when asked to clarify their current relationship status. But he also said that he wasn't bothered by the media frenzy following his and Kat's comments.

So does Sallu want to make amends with Katrina? We'll be on the lookout for answers! Watch this space for updates.

Salman-Katrina’s dance drama

We’re going ‘Walla Walla’ after watching Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar in their Qawali number for Farah Khan’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’. The song has Sallu and Akki in a pretend-fight over Kat (hmm…imagine that!).

The real question is – Were Salman and Katrina fighting during the shooting? Nothing of that sort it seems. Apparently the couple (or former couple) were fairly cordial to one another and had fun while shooting the song (thanks to buffers Akshay and Farah maybe).

While Salman and Akki were dressed in colourful vests, scarves and caps; Kat made for a rather sober picture, considering she plays an item girl in the movie.

Salman Khan paints Mother St. Teresa's portrait to celebrate her 100th birth anniversary

That Salman is a great actor is anybody's guess. That Salman is a great human being, is something that all the recipients of his affection will vouch for, so much so that Salman also has a NGO dedicated to the same cause called as 'Being Human'.

But Salman being a great painter is something that is proven with each passing day. Yes, you heard it right. Even though he maybe the proverbial 'bad boy' of Bollywood, his paintings say something else! Salman's emotional side can quite clearly be visible from his paintings. Amongst the other 'testimonials', we bring you with yet another Masterpiece of a painting by Sallu. This time, Salman has painted the portrait of Mother Teresa, whose 100th birthday is being planned to be celebrated all over the world this year. As a token of his love and respect to the eternal Mother, Salman has painted this portrait, a picture of which he posted on twitter recently. Needles to say, it's a piece de resistance indeed!

Dabangg success party - Photos

"May Dabangg do better than 3 Idiots'

'Dabangg' should make 10 times more money than '3 Idiots, Aamir Khan said at a party thrown by Salman Khan to celebrate the success of the cop comedy.

"I am very happy that Salman's 'Dabangg' got so much success. That's why I have come to give him a hug and congratulate him. I would always pray that his film makes 10 times more than what '3 Idiots' did," Aamir told reporters at the success party of the film held at Vie Lounge in Mumbai. Aamir and Salman have become very close in recent times, and are pretty much regulars at each others parties.

Report says in two weeks 'Dabangg' has done business of Rs.116 crore net and the third week has opened well on single screens. The film revolves around a corrupt cop Chulbul Pande, played by Salman, and his life.

The party was for the cast, crew and close friends, says actor-turned-producer Arbaaz Khan, who was thrilled with the success of his first production venture.

Salman made a brief appearance for the media and said, "Thank you so much. I am very happy."

This was Abhinav Kashyap's first film as director and he too was very happy with the sucess. "I am in the seventh heaven," he said.

When Malaika Arora Khan, who features in the 'Munni' song, was asked if she had expected her husband Arbaaz's debut production to be a record breaking hit, she said, "No, one can ever predict the fate of the film before hand, but, of course, we pray for its success. The magnitude of the response and the collections of the film are overwhelming."

Among the guests were director David Dawan and he said: "This is the biggest hit of Salman. He is outstanding and everyone knows that. After watching the film I was quite sure that it would be a big hit."

Chunky Pandey, Sonu Niigaam, Subhash Ghai and Vidhu Vinod Chopra also joined Salman for the party.

I am single, says Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif, who had always refrained from speaking about her relationship with actor Salman Khan, has finally confirmed that she is single.

"I am single. But beyond that I don't think I need to give too much of details," Katrina said yesterday (August 24) at the Trident hotel in Mumbai, where she was named as the international brand ambassador of Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The actress who garnered rave reviews for her role in director Prakash Jha's political drama 'Raajneeti' said that sometime it becomes very difficult to take a personal decision and more so if it has to be taken publicly.

"Sometimes it's hard enough to take decisions, professional sometimes but mostly personal and wherever the decision that you have to take, it's very difficult to take them and if you have to make them in front of everybody, whether it's media, or the public or the world, I think that's a little bit more than what I can handle. That's why for six years, I have never commented who I am with, if I had a break up, if there is an argument," Katrina said.

The actress said she thinks commitment changes with situations.

"If you commit to something, you must stand by. But if you commit to something and the situation changes, then perhaps the commitment also changes," she said.

Salman's back on Twitter

After his comments on the 26/11 Mumbai attacks caused an uproar, Salman Khan wrote that he might be going off Twitter. But the man's changed his mind now, and he's back with a bang on the site.

Salman posted on his Twitter page today, "Kamaal karte ho yaar! Thank u fr wanting me to cm bak n sorry to leave but do understand that I tweet any thing n me frnds n family panic."

Salman had tweeted earlier, after the controversy, "Looks like I mite hv to get off twitter. Don't want to but wat to do? I think I messed up,so sorry guys,$sorry bolne mein koi sharam nahi."

And after his return to Twitter, Salman was back to his usual fun and at times completely random musings. He actually posted pictures of fingers and wondered if any astrologer could read 'this man's' hand!

And later he posted a sketch (we guess one he's drawn himself) and wrote, "Sonakshi ji yeh Chullll Bulllll Pandey bana rahi hai."

This was followed by a national integration from the star - "Hindu Muslim Sikh Isahi sab hai bhai bhai. Na ladna na jhagadna bus ek doosare se pyaar karna. Hum sab saath saath hai :)"

SRK-Gauri's 'Dabangg' time (srkthedon.blogspot.com)

All of the world's watching Salman Khan's blockbuster 'Dabangg' and Shah Rukh Khan's family is no different. It seems that SRK and wife Gauri both had special screenings of 'Dabangg' organised at Mannat, their home in Mumbai.

Apparently, SRK himself requested the first screening - no, he didn't call up Salman, or even his brother Arbaaz Khan, who produced 'Dabangg'. He wrote to the production company Ashtavinayak to organise a screening. But of course producer Arbaaz's permission was required for it, which he gladly gave.

Then it was Gauri's turn. We hear SRK's biwi called up Arbaaz's wife Malaika Arora Khan to organise a screening for her kids Aryan and Suhana. Once again, Arbaaz organised it.

Wonder what SRK and family thought of Chulbul Pandey and family? Will SRK get in touch with Sallu to share his feedback, even after that comment from the 'Dabangg' star that the two can never get together? Watch this space for updates.

Salman on the show 2 Idiots

Salman Khan recently appeared on a show called 2 Idiots to promote his upcoming film Dabangg. This will be a sit-down interview segment, wherein the host Aaliyah quizzes Sallu on films and life.

Her cameraman Sid butts in when she digresses and gets star-struck. The two ask SK to make a sketch (the star being a painter and all).

The actor makes a stick figure with the now-famous Dabangg moustache and signs it with a flourish. Here's looking...

Salman Khan auctions gym session with him for charity

Fans of Salman Khan can now flex their muscles in front of their idol as the actor is auctioning a private gym training session with himself to raise money for charity.

The actor, whose latest film Dabangg is creating new box office records, has joined hands with a website to celebrate the 'Joy of Giving Week'.

As part of the session, Salman will work out with the highest bidder and provide tips on fitness.

"I will spend quality time with the person that bids generously. All the money is going to a good cause, and I will reciprocate by offering some valuable fitness techniques to the participant. I feel honored to be supporting such a noble cause with all proceeds going to The Research Society,"the actor said in a press statement.

The Research Society which provide care and counseling to children with special needs.

Salman's family planning a 'Dabangg' bash

The Salman Khan starrer 'Dabangg' has rocked the box office and the film's producer Arbaaz Khan says they are planning to celebrate the success.

"Yes, we're going to have a celebration very shortly. So far because of the way 'Dabangg' has gone, we haven't been able to plan out full details. But yes we will invite all our friends and colleagues. We want to share our happiness," said Arbaaz.

There are many firsts attached to 'Dabangg' - this is Arbaaz's first production venture, Abhinav Kashyap's first movie as a director and it also launched Sonakshi Sinha as an actress.

And for Arbaaz, 'Dabangg' is not only a family achievement, but a personal triumph too.

"To be finally recognised for my work is a feeling I can't describe. Personally, I had never dreamt the film would become so big. If you say the film has been a success because of the way it was marketed and because Salman is liked in action roles, I'd have to disagree. Salman went all out for 'Veer' as well," he said.

"As for action, yes 'Wanted' was a success in the action genre. But not to the extent of 'Dabangg'. Besides action 'Dabangg' had the comic element, great music (by Sajid-Wajid) and the girl (Sonakshi Sinha) has been immensely liked. Who knows what it is? All I know is that me and my family are looking at one of the biggest hits of the industry and we'd like to believe the entire industry shares our joy because a hit of this magnitude means prosperity for the entire industry."

When asked about the guest list for the impending bash, Arbaaz said: "Ideally, we'd like to invite everyone in the film industry. But that would mean a guest list of 15,000 to 20,000 people. We can't manage that. So we'd restrict ourselves to all our friends. Trust me it would be quite a list."

The guest list may include the Bachchan family, Shatrughan-Poonam-Sonakshi Sinha, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, Sanjay-Manyata Dutt, Ajay Devgn-Kajol, Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, Hrithik-Susanne Roshan, Imran Khan and his fiancée Aavantika, Rishi, Ranbir and Neetu Kapoor, and Priyanka Chopra.

Salman's 'Munni' in trouble

'Dabangg' producer Arbaaz Khan has a superhit movie on his hands, but now there's trouble with the chartbuster 'Munni Badnaam Hui' that Salman Khan and sis-in-law Malaika Arora Khan dance to in it. Zandu Pharmaceutical Works, the makers of Zandu Balm, have served the 'Dabangg' team with a legal notice for copyright infringement. They have objected to the use of 'Zandu Balm' being used in the lyrics.

The music and lyrics for the song have been composed by Lalit Pandit. And the words 'Zandu Balm' have been used several times in the number.

There's been some surprise as to why the company has come out with the complaint now, when the song was out in promos a few months ago. Meanwhile, the production house says they have'nt received a notice yet. Though Zandu Balm's spokesperson confirms that a notice has been sent.

When Salman met Pravesh Rana

Salman Khan will soon be seen in Emotional Atyachar. The show's host Pravesh Rana is a huge fan of the star.

He was shocked when Sallu complimented him and told him that he had watched him in Bigg Boss and was now waiting to anchor the show.

Sallu also told him that handling the squabbling couples who were cheating on each other was a tough deal.

Salman confirms Katrina split

It's the end of another complicated chapter in Salman Khan's always eventful love life, if he's being serious that is. Salman said in a TV interview recently that he had broken up with Katrina. Sallu added that they were friends earlier and are now as well. He got philosophical saying that splits happen because people go different ways, grow in different ways, or because of different sensibilites. He said it was good if friendship could be maintained even after a split.

Meanwhile, it's plain to see that the star's now playing mentor to his new Bollywood muse - his 'Dabangg' co-star Sonakshi Sinha. Sonakshi's already signed another movie with Arbaaz Khan's production company opposite Salman. And now Salllu has recommended her to his producer pal Sajid Nadiadwala for the movie 'Kick'.

Of course, Salman is the hero, and apparently Sajid had thought of casting Deepika Padukone opposite him. But Salman is supposed to have suggested Sonakshi's name, and so she's been offered the role.

And Salman and Sonakshi have been bonding apart from their movie roles too. They're both interested in painting and Sonakshi has been saying that whenever she found Salman painting, she would start painting as well. She added that their painting styles were quite similar.

So what will all this acting-painting bonding lead to, now that Salman is single? Watch this space for updates.

Salman has a 'special thing' for cops

He gets talking about his 'long relationship' with the police

Salman Khan, who is once again playing a cop in his brother Arbaaz Khan's debut production 'Dabangg', says he has a special connect with the police as his grandfather was a police officer and, of course, due to his own run-ins with the law.

"I think because my grandfather was deputy inspector general (DIG) of police, Indore, I have this special thing for the cops. I have also shared a very long relationship...!" Salman said with a laugh.

The actor spent time in jail in 2002 after his car allegedly ran over four people sleeping on a footpath. He once again went behind bars in 2007 in Jodhpur on charges of hunting an endangered deer.

Salman, 44, has played a policeman in several films like 'Wanted', 'Garv' and 'Auzaar'.

He started out in 1988 with the film 'Biwi Ho To Aisi'. Salman gets philosophical when he says a star's image is something created by others and if an actor himself starts believing in that image, then he is done for.

"When you think that you are a normal person, you are not a star; then you don't get impressed by your image that 150, 200 or 500 people have created and crores of people have appreciated that image; if you don't believe in that image of yours and you know for a fact that is not you but a created thing, you will be fine. If you start believing in that image of yours, then you are done with," Salman said.

Known for his beefed up muscles, the actor said he lost weight for 'Dabangg'.

"I lost a lot of weight and then it looked weird. You are playing a cop who is totally ribbed. I really wanted to look ribbed in the film," said Salman.

Salman had grown his hair for 'Veer', a look he really liked, and now he sports a moustache for the new flick, which also stars Shatrughan Sinha's daughter Sonakshi. He admits he was a bit apprehensive about going for an image makeover this time.

"I had just finished 'Veer' and I had to cut my hair very short... I didn't want to. The long hair was looking good. It took so long to grow; so I didn't want anyone to cut it off."

About the moustache, Salman said: "Five-six months before the film, Arbaaz used to come with different kinds of moustaches every week. I said I'm shooting for a film, can I grow a moustache...Somewhere Sonakshi also had this thing for her dad's moustache. If you see my moustache, it's somewhat like his only," he laughed.

Funnily, Salman is seen doing some really weird dance steps in the songs of 'Dabangg'. Why is that?

"Actually in this film, I copied everyone who can't dance. There is a nightclub-dancing style, there is one dancing style when you are in a function, and one dance is when you are drunk and enjoying yourself. This film is dedicated especially to those people who can't dance," Salman said.

Kangna in the Khan clan?

B-Town is abuzz about the growing dosti between Salman and the Ranaut girl. Is she simply yet another actress Sallu has taken under his wing?

Salman Khan and Kangna Ranaut are slowly but surely becoming close. Everyone is talking about these new
B-Town dosts. This bonding is being discussed at dinner parties in star homes. There are various versions about where this unlikely pair met and became friends. It is a mystery because they haven't worked together.

Even Sallu's closest friends and family members aren't sure about exactly what is going on. Everyone is playing the wait and watch game because in the past too, Khan has adopted many actresses (Sneha Ullal, Zarine Khan, Sonakshi Sinha), supported them emotionally, guided them and even promoted them. Will this be any different or progress further? Read on to decide.

1.The actress has been signed for the next untitled Being Human production opposite the Dabangg actor. The film is a Hindi remake of Manjrekar's Marathi film Mee Shivajiraje Bhosle Boltoy. Everyone thought he might cast his all-time favourite Katrina Kaif, or recent favourite Sonakshi Sinha, but he wanted his current favourite Kangna Ranaut, to work with him in his home production.

2. It was her big night -- the success party of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai on August 4 but Kangna left the party early and was later seen at Galaxy Apartments where the Super-Brat lives. She was seen leaving his apartment building in the wee hours of the morning.

3 Khan doesn't make new friends. When it comes to partying, he sticks to a small group of friends. He doesn't allow for new members, yet at his younger sister Arpita Khan's birthday party on August 5, Kangna Ranaut mingled with his family. Although Kangs and Salman kept a safe distance from each other, by the end of the evening, quite a few people were talking about this new entrant in the Khan clan.

4 On Sunday (August 15) Kangna was one of the few actresses who was seen at a Blood Donation Drive organised by the actor. She turned up looking pale perhaps because she has been under the weather. But she made the trip to show support for Khan.

Kangna remained unavailable for comment. However an industry insider clarifies:
"Kangna was approached for the Being Human production a few days ago and asked to allot her dates in August. Salman has known her for the last two years. They first met on the sets of Dus Ka Dum, where he promised to do a film with her. Ever since, they kept in touch. He often gives her advice on career and life. After the success party of OUATIM, she went to Salman's house to discuss the film. She thinks he is a nice guy and enjoys his company. Sallu's younger sister is friends with the actress and it was Arpita who invited Kangs to her birthday party at a Juhu nightclub. As for the blood donation camp, she got a call from Salman's people asking her to come and donate blood. So, she went."
