Bollywood stands united for Ayodhya verdict

As the nation awaits the Ayodhya-Babri Masjid verdict today (September 30), B'wood stars have taken to Twitter and their blogs to appeal for peace and harmony regardless of the judgment.

Shahid Kapoor: "Let's be peaceful, let's be together... Let's be mature, let's learn to be the bigger person, see the larger picture ... and prove that above all .. WE ARE INDIAN."

Big B wrote on his blog, "There has never been such a strong demonstration by the media and by all concerned on the need to keep a balance in whatever the circumstances. Patience and will shall be on test."

Sonam Kapoor: "Remember, united we stand and divided we fall. Love and brotherhood has made our country strong, don't give that up."

Riteish Deshmukh: "United India is the religion I follow - Stay one - Be one - Let's show that we are a ONE-derful Country."

Fardeen Khan wrote: "India's greatest strength lies in its unity and today is a true test of that. Let's confront the Ayodhya issue in the spirit of understanding, tolerance, love and respect. If we do achieve that then we will be able to look back and proudly say that yes India is truly shining - Jai Hind."

Anupam Kher: "I am in Toronto, but my heart is in India. Let NO court verdict spoil our togetherness. Let us be ONE. Let us be INDIANS."

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar wrote on his Twitter page, "Let's not mutiliate 30-9-10 over 6-12-92. Religion is about peace and love, lets not make it about hate and violence!!!"

R. Madhavan: "Big Day today for all of us. I am not concerned which way the verdict goes. I Demand that not one more innocent suffers because of this. Need to defy the expected and react to the Verdict with maturity and restraint. Let's surprise ourselves and the world. I pray for peace and Harmony. Whatever the verdict."

Jewellery designer Farah Khan: "The Ayodhya verdict will not decide whether a temple or a mosque be built there. The verdict is going to decide who the land belongs to. In the sense who is the legal tenant of the 2.67 acres that is under dispute."

"Hopefully once that is sorted both communities can come together and put their differences aside for God does not ask for houses of worship to be built in his name. He owns the universe."

Prime Minister Manhmohan Singh and many other leaders have also appealed for peace and harmony in the nation ahead of the verdict by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on the Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi issue.

Shahid may shoot in Pakistan

In exciting news for his Pakistani fans, Shahid Kapoor could be shooting in Pakistan for a Mira Nair film, Aaj TV channel reported today (October 22).

According to the Pakistani channel, noted Indian film director Mira Nair is planning to make a movie based on Pakistani writer Mohsin Hamid's second novel 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist'.

The yet-to-be-named film is expected to be shot in Pakistan. But it is not yet clear whether the necessary permissions have been sought for this purpose. The interior ministry and foreign ministry on both sides of the border have to be involved if any such project has to go ahead , the TV channel said quoting unnamed sources.

Shahid Kapoor, the channel reported, has not signed the contract yet but has shown interest in reading the script and is also excited about working with US-based Mira Nair, who has won critical acclaim for her off-beat films. Her 'Salaam Bombay' in 1988 was shortlisted for the Academy Award in the category of best foreign film.

Mohsin, a Harvard-educated law graduate, is based in London and has won acclaim for his incisive and engaging writings. He shot to fame with his first novel 'Moth Smoke' in 2000. 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' was published in 2007 and soon become an instant best-seller.

Earlier, Mahesh Bhatt had also planned to shoot his film 'Mandi' while Shah Rukh-starrer 'Veer Zara' was also supposed to be shot partly in Pakistan but the plans had to be shelved because of administrative hassles.

The story of 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' revolves around a Pakistani man who lets go of his life of fame in America after a failed love affair and the 9/11 terror attack. The novel was translated in more than 25 languages, won the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award and was also shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize.

With a dying Pakistani film industry that produces hardly a handful of movies in Urdu, Punjabi and Pushto languages each year, Indian movies are a rage in Pakistan.

The release of Indian movies allowed in Pakistan a couple of years ago after a break of more than 40 years has also helped to bring the general public back to cinema houses.

Priyanka-Ranbir kiss bothers Shahid?

The exact status of the Shahid Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra relationship is still unclear - neither party is talking. But Sasha might be feeling like the jealous boyfriend after watching Prinks' intimate scenes with Ranbir Kapoor in 'Anjaana Anjaani'. Buzz is that the movie has PC and RK sharing two kisses, and they're not of the quick-peck-on-the-cheek type.

'Anjaana Anjaani' is about how two strangers get closer through their circumstances, and it seems that director Siddharth Malhotra wanted to have the kisses between his lead pair to show how close they become in the course of the movie. The intimate scenes were not part of the initial script.

It seems that Shahid doesn't even want to watch the movie now. And he doesn't want to talk openly about his realtionship with Priyanka either. This, despite the fact that he dropped her off at the airport when she left for Brazil to shoot 'Khatron Ke Khiladi', and they watched 'Dabangg' together at a theatre in Mumbai.

So what's going to be the next chapter in this story? Watch this space for updates.

Sequel to Ishq Vishk?

Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor will co-star in an upcoming Ishq Vishk sequel

Word on the B-Town street is that after Kaminey, Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor are coming together again in a sequel to Shahid's debut film Ishq Vishk. The original featured Amrita Rao in the lead along with Shaks and was directed by Ken Ghosh.

Says an insider, "Producer Ramesh Taurani wants to make a sequel to Ishq Vishk with Shahid and Priyanka. Everything is under wraps as Taurani doesn't want the director of the original to know about his plans. Taurani is currently garnering finance for the film. Ghosh won't direct the sequel."

Ishq Vishk 2 will have director Anubhav Sinha's wife Ratna at the helm. Ratna has previously directed music videos. "Talks are on with the lead pair. It's a fresh romance and very different from what PC and Shaks did in Kaminey. The film will be shot before Race 2," adds the source.

However, Ramesh says, "I have liked one of Ratna Sinha's scripts but I am not planning a sequel to Ishq Vishk."

Ken says, "I have no idea about a sequel to my film. It's too late to do a sequel now. After Ishq Vishk became a hit we had toyed with the idea of making a sequel but couldn't get a good script so we discarded the idea."

Priyanka-Shahid have a late night date

He drove her to the airport as she left to shoot 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' in Brazil

Looks like Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor have gotten back together again, even though they're not ready to come out in the open about it. Sasha has already made the classic boyfriend gesture - he drove PC to the airport in his car as she left for a trip.

All this unfolded at Mumbai airport on August 17, where Shahid was spotted in his distinctive black Range Rover, leaving Priyanka to catch her flight to Brazil, where she'll be shooting for the reality show 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'. Of course Shahid didn't want the media to spot him, so as soon as they did he made a run (or a drive) for it, leaving Priyanka a little further from her exact destination at the aiport.

Priyanka is going to be gone a month, and we think that was way too long for Sasha, so he decided to spend some quality time with her on the way to the airport. But if he can do something that screams 'We're in a relationship' like leaving her to the airport, we think we might just get to see more open declarations. Watch this space for updates.

Admit it, Shahid, Priyanka!

A month ago, Shahid Kapoor was spotted dropping Priyanka Chopra to the airport when she was leaving for Brazil.

And now, the duo were spotted together arriving for a film screening in Mumbai lately. But as soon as they got to know that there are shutterbugs around, they walked in separately to avoid getting clicked together. C'mon guys, time to open up!

Shahid wants to watch Sonam's 'I Hate Luv Storys'

Back from shooting for 'Mausam' in Scotland, he shares his to-do list

Shahid Kapoor, who is back in the city after a hectic schedule in Scotland for 'Mausam', wants to catch his co-star Sonam Kapoor's 'I Hate Luv Storys'.

"Yeah I want to see Sonam's film and all the other films that I've missed while I was away," said Shahid.

Talking about his two months in Edinburgh, he said: "Shooting in Edinburgh was like a dream. The place was so beautiful, I felt I was transported to paradise.

"And then being directed by dad was a dream come true. He is like an encyclopaedia of acting. I've learnt so much in the last one month. I tried to absorb as much as I could," said Shahid.

He missed his mom and kid-brother like crazy during the shooting abroad.

"In fact, I wanted my brother to come over to Scotland. But kids that age have their own life and commitments," said Shahid sounding every inch the concerned big brother.

Now until the next schedule of 'Mausam', in Punjab, the actor will be with his mom and brother.

"Not just mom and my brother, but my closest friend Sri also. He stays in Bangalore. I've invited him over to Mumbai to spend time with me, my brother and mom. I'm now going to catch up on all the films that I missed while I was gone," said Shahid.

Shahid says no to Ranbir

He loves dancing and would have loved to join Ranbir Kapoor for his first world tour, but Shahid Kapoor's prior commitments won't allow him to participate in the event.

"Shahid is being repeatedly offered to be a part of the world tour with Ranbir. But due to his 'Mausam' release and Sajid Khan's film shoot he has declined the offer," said Shahid's spokesperson.

When contacted, Mohammed Morani of Cineyug, which is organising Ranbir's world tour, said: "Yes, it's true that we have approached Shahid Kapoor to be a part of the world tour, but we are still awaiting his reply. Most probably he will say yes. The tour will take place June-July 2011."

Shahid's known for his hit numbers like 'Dil vich lagya ve' ('Chup Chup Ke'), 'Mauja hi mauja' ('Jab We Met'), and 'Dhan Te Naan' ('Kaminey').

Shahid's success has made him a heartthrob and he enjoys a huge fan following. Many feel that if the two Kapoors team up for the stage show, it can create a sensation, said an insider.

Right now Shahid is shooting for his father Pankaj Kapoor's directorial debut 'Mausam'.

World tours, of course, are all about stars. For instance, during Amitabh Bachchan's 'Unforgettable' concert, stars like Akshay Kumar, Preity Zinta and Madhuri Dixit had joined him at different places besides his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya.

Earlier, Shah Rukh had teamed up with Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Arjun Rampal, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra for his 'Temptation' world tour.

For Ranbir's tour, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif are said to be on board.
